TDK-Lambda GWS PSU goes green

Leading power supply manufacturer TDK-Lambda has developed a new series of "green" power supplies that comply with the energy saving requirements of Energy Star and the ErP (Energy related Products) Directive. Ideal for use in light industrial equipment and front-end equipment for broadcast and communications applications, the 250 W GWS series AC-DC power supply uses innovative design techniques to combine high efficiency, high power density and low standby power with the confidence of a 5-year warranty. The GWS250 is equally well-suited for indoor and outdoor LED information displays and digital signage, traffic controls, test and measurement and entertainment systems.

Designed with a 105 x 199 mm footprint and 1U height, the GWS250 is a compact and convection cooled product fitting into spaces previously requiring a fan cooled model. Rated at 250 W the power supply is offered in four models with nominal outputs of 12V (21 A), 24V (10.5 A), 36V (7 A) and 48V (5.3 A). Outputs are user adjusted by up to 20 % depending on model type ? and the 24V and 36V models have a peak power rating of 300 W. With a flat efficiency curve averaging at 93 %, from 25 to 100 % load, the GWS250 range can be operated at full load from -25 to 50 ?C ambient temperature and up to +70 ?C with suitable derating.

The GWS250 series from TDK-Lambda has overvoltage, overtemperature and overcurrent protection (constant current mode for 24 VDC, 36 VDC and 48 VDC models, 12 VDC hiccup mode). Models in the GWS250 series also feature <0.5 W no load input power, 5 VDC / 0.3 A standby output, remote on/off, DC GOOD signal and a voltage programming function as standard.

CE marked in accordance with the LV Directive, the GWS250 carries a host of environmental and safety approvals including EN55022 and FCC Class B, UL60950-1, CSA C22.2 No.60950-1-07 (cUL), EN60950-1 edition 2 and IEC60950-1

In November 2009, the Eco-Design Directive EuP was replaced by the new ErP (Energy-related Products) Directive 2009/125/EC. One of the first implementing measures under the ErP Directive to be enforced is for no load input power consumption. Initially, this value is set so that it should not exceed 1 W however it is expected to drop to below 0.5 W by January 2013.Please contact us for more information on this product.
