MEAS Magneto-Resistive Position Sensor
|Measurement Specialties (also commonly referred to as Meas Spec or MEAS) has just released its new KMZ10 CM position sensor to complement its KMZ20 and KMY20 family of Magneto-resistive sensors. The KMZ10CM is characterized by high sensitivity, a wide operating temperature range, a stable offset and low sensitivity to mechanical stress.
It provides an excellent means of measuring linear displacement under extreme environmental conditions. This is due to its very high sensitivity allowing the detection of minute changes in magnetic fields that are created by fairly small movements of actuating components as might be found in cars or machinery.
The KMZ10CM is compatible with the well-known KMZ10C from NXP. Although its SOT-4L package differs slightly from the NXP SOT-195 package, it is a substitute for the KMZ10C. The KMY and KMZ family of sensors is particularly well-suited for such automotive applications as wheel speed sensors for ABS and motor management systems, chassis position, and throttle and pedal position.
The devices are also embedded in instrumentation and control equipment for the measurement of displacements to within hundreds of a micrometer as well as for rotational speed and current. Further, given this sensor family's unique ability to measure very weak magnetic fields, they are also ideal for such earth field applications as traffic detection.
