Block Down Converters
A Block Down Converter is most commonly used in the reception (downlink) of satellite signals. It converts a band (or "block") of frequencies from a higher frequency to a lower frequency. It is typically distinguished from LNBs by being a lower-gain, high performance solution that is mostly used in Earth Stations where performance and RF monitoring throughout the RF path is required.
Block Down Converters convert Carrier signals from (most commonly) C Band, Ku Band or Ka Band to an IF signal in the L Band.
Block Down Converters use high performance Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) Local Oscillators and have integrated high stability 10 MHz frequency references but also allows for an external reference to be used.
