Frequency Conversion Products form a critical part of any Communications System. The basic function of a Frequency Converter as a component or system is to create a new frequency by combining or mixing two frequencies. This RF signal processing technique is also known as Heterodyning.
Any Frequency Converter utilises a form of Mixer component, which is a three-port device that has an RF Input, a Local Oscillator (LO) Reference Input, and an RF Output. The LO Frequency is determined by an external Oscillator, and this frequency is added (sum) and subtracted (difference) to/from the RF Input. This produces a range of frequency products, including the original input frequency and multiples of the LO frequency, with these known as Harmonics. The desired product(s) can be utilised while undesired products can be externally filtered out.
Accutronics offer a complete range of Frequency Conversion Products, ranging from RF Mixers and Frequency Multipliers, to Frequency Converter sub-systems and complete Receiver systems.
